Breast Reduction in Chattanooga
In addition to being aesthetically unpleasant, abnormally large breasts can wreck havoc on the body, creating physical complications. A breast reduction can help alleviate the discomfort and embarrassment caused by extremely large breasts.
Three separate scars will result from the incisions made during a breast reduction. Incisions are made around the nipple, vertically under the nipple and in the horizontal crease under the breast. It is important to realize that the vertical scar will remain visible even after healing.
Once the incisions are made, the breast tissue is recontoured using a combination of liposuction and sharp dissection. Sutures are then used to close the incisions.
Breast Reduction Recovery
After surgery, moderate pain is expected and can be controlled with the pain medication we prescribe. Most patients need to take off of school or work for five to eight days following the procedure. Although most patients are up and walking the day after surgery, strenuous activities should not be resumed for six weeks.
As with any surgery, certain risks are associated with this procedure and can be addressed during your initial consultation.
